Environment And Wildlife Film Festival In Pondicherry

 
PUDUCHERRY, India - Oct. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- The first film festival and forum on environment and wildlife, “CMS Vatavaran 2014” is being conducted in Pondicherry by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) Delhi, in collaboration with Forest and Wildlife department Pondicherry. The 6th travelling edition of the film festival covers five cities starting with Pondicherry from October 7th- 12th. The theme of this year’s festival is mainstreaming biodiversity conservation at different levels to promote living in harmony with nature.

The film festival, apart from screening films on environment and its related issues, both Indian and International, also has a host of other activities including a one day film making workshop at the Pondicherry University, panel discussion on ‘Climate change and human wildlife interaction’, nature trail, beach cleaning and slogan writing competition, green marathon on biodiversity theme. CMS Vatavaran 2014 has events planned across 18 venues including Pondicherry University and several schools and restaurants as prominent locations.

“Puducherry – Auroville CMS VATAVARAN is a people’s festival on biodiversity to enhance understanding, appreciation and shift in attitudes about the natural world and its conservation through films and forums” says P N Vasanti, Director General, CMS.

The Puducherry – Aurovillle CMS Vatavaran was inaugurated on October 7 by Thiru T Thiagarajan, hon’ble Minister of Forest, Science, Technology and Environment in the presence of Mr.N Bhaskara Rao, Chairman, CMS, Mr. Maninder Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. Of India, Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, Secretary, Science, Technology and Environment, Govt. Of Puducherry and other eminent guests, activists and environment enthusiasts at Anandha Inn hotel.
