MANAMA, Bahrain - Sept. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Manama, Bahrain, 21 September 2014 –The General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), the global umbrella of Islamic financial institutions, announced that it has commenced ‘Certified Islamic Banker’ training for 1200 employees from Bank Al Khartoum, Sudan.

The professional development training programme, which is held in the Kanon Hotel, Khartoum, Sudan, is part of an agreement signed between CIBAFI and Bank Al Khartoum in December 2013 that will see the Council’s accredited trainers deliver the ‘Certified Islamic Banker’ programme to the entire staff of the Bank. The six-day course will be delivered to the Bank’s staff in groups of 35 participants per class with CIBAFI conducting a total of 34 coaching sessions during the period 20th September  2014 to 4th March 2015. The curriculum will also include a session by members of the Bank’s Shariah Board that will focus on practical application of the theory using local case studies.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Abdelilah Belatik, Secretary General of CIBAFI said: “It is highly commendable that Bank Al Khartoum is offering its employees this training. By providing the ‘Certified Islamic Banker’ programme to its staff, Bank Al Khartoum is not only underscoring its dedication to employees, it is also emphasising an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standards of professional service to customers.”

Bank Al Khartoum CEO, Mr. Fadi Faqih, said that the professional development initiative is aligned with the Bank’s training and development strategy: “I am very pleased to have signed this training agreement with CIBAFI. At Bank Al Khartoum we believe in empowering our employees by providing them with the training they need to grow as Islamic banking professionals. Today’s business environment is competitive and dynamic, and in order to offer our customers a unique service experience, it is important to ensure that all of our employees are highly professional and up to date on industry best practices.”

The bank wide training program held in Khartoum is one of the many professional development initiatives being spearheaded by the Council as it strives to enhance capacity building and human capital development in the IFSI.  Mr. Belatik added: “The Islamic financial services industry is experiencing rapid global growth and innovation, however in order to sustain this rate of progress, the industry must address a dearth of professional talent. The Council is actively tackling this challenge and is currently in talks with a number of Islamic banks and financial institutions throughout the region to provide tailored in-house training programmes.”
