Follow on Google News | Vector 3: A story of success managing disconnectionsVector 3 has almost 30 years of experience in developing leading playout solutions for Broadcast.
By: Vector 3 Vector 3 has two ranges of products that are used for this purpose: Vector MultiPlay and VectorBox, the former to manage the hub (central emission) and the latter to manage the spokes. VectorBox is a single box to air a channel with all its graphics, effects, transitions and fades. In a syndicated environment, it performs the insertion and the branding of the local branch or affiliate (spoke) in a very flexible way. It allows automatic or manual trigger of insertion. Local commercial material can be video, audio, motion graphics, tickers, etc. Thanks to its client-server technology, it can be controlled and monitored from far away (e.g. the hub), allowing changes and last minute modifications as if the operator were there. MultiPlay is a world class multichannel automation for playout centres. It can work as a hub sending the trigger pulses to the spokes, or it can act itself as a local station for the cases where multiple signals are arriving and local material needs to be inserted in them (e.g. cable headends). Ad Insertion is the solution Vector 3 developed to give the operator a unified and detailed picture of as many channels as are working at the same time, allowing him to interact with all of them from a single user interface. One of the features that are available for disconnections as for the rest of broadcast applications of MultiPlay is the control and monitoring "on the cloud". Vector MultiPlay allows TV companies to manage their playout facilities from any location around the planet. Operators have full access and control while being half way around the globe from the videoserver and routers. This allows either to unify in one location the control of many master control rooms or to share the control of a master control room from many different venues.
