ABS-CBN bags Gold Stevie Awards at International Business Awards

ABS-CBN nominated also as “People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite Company”
 
QUEZON CITY, Philippines - Sept. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- After winning at the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards, ABS-CBN Corporation won the Gold Stevie Award for “Company of the Year” in the Media & Entertainment category at the 11th Annual International Business Awards (IBAs).  The awards night will be held in Paris, France on October 10.

ABS-CBN, as the only winner in the Philippines, will also compete in the “People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite Company” in the Media & Entertainment category.   The company will be competing against silver and the bronze Stevie winners from the United Kingdom (U.K.) and the United States of America (U.S.A.) in the said category.

The winner will be chosen based on an online voting procedure.  To vote for the sole Philippine media company included in the award category, just visit the Stevie Awards , click the Media & Entertainment category, and choose ABS-CBN Corporation.  Voting ends on September 12, Friday at 11:59 P.M. U.S. Eastern Time (ET).

The IBAs is the world’s premier business awards program.  All business individuals and organizations worldwide – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small – are eligible to submit nominations.  The 2014 IBAs received entries from more than 60 nations and territories, including the Philippines.

The Gold Stevie Awards recognized ABS-CBN’s business achievements in the past year for its supremacy in terms of Philippine TV ratings, and box office sales of its movie production and distribution company Star Cinema’s movies, increase in revenues, ground-breaking business ventures such as ABS-CBNMobile available in the Philippines, theme park “KIDZania Manila” (Taguig, Philippines),  TV home shopping channel “O-Shopping,”  its public service initiatives such as the “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na” campaign after typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) struck Central Philippines, and relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims of other disasters, and the success of its 60th anniversary celebration of television in the Philippines.

More than 3,500 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including “Company of the Year,” “Website of the Year,” “Best New Product or Service of the Year,” “Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year,” and “Executive of the Year,” among others.

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 250 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process from May through early August.

In May, ABS-CBN bagged a Grand Stevie Award at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards and was the only Filipino company to receive the highest honor given to five companies in the region.  ABS-CBN also won a Gold Stevie Award in the “Services Company of the Year” category, while ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio won a Gold Stevie Award in the “Woman of the Year” for all Asia-Pacific nations (except Australia and South Korea) category.

The international subsidiaries of ABS-CBN Corporation encouraged and enabled Filipinos all over the world to support the “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo na!” campaign across avenues from a telethon (in North America); merchandise selling; to on-air carriage via the cable, satellite, mobile and online platforms of TFC when the typhoon struck in 2013.
