Angel One Investor Network celebrates entrepreneurship and partnership with the Founders and Funders

BURLINGTON, Ontario - June 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Wednesday night, June 18^th, 2014  saw the gathering of successful entrepreneurs at all stages and highlighted how hard work and innovation can bring success. Members of the Angel One Investor Network, as well as investee companies and people from the community gathered at the Ron Joyce Centre | DeGroote School of Business for the Founders and Funders Celebration 2014.  Over 170 people attended this event which included the Investee Showcase and the presentation of the Founder, Funder and Contributor of the Year award as well as highlighting two successful exits. Angel One members realized a 27% return on a 9 month investment in Granite Networks and a 71% return on an 11 month investment in Vana Workforce. Vana Workforce were also the Founder of the Year award winners.

Karen Grant, Executive Director of the Angel One Investor Network, spearheaded the creation of this event and shares, “Angel One has attracted a great group of members who are engaged and passionate about their investee companies.  It is a great honour to be recognized as a leader by the National Angel Capital Organization for the number of investments made by our members in 2013.” Ian Brenneman from NACO was on hand to highlight the small but mighty efforts of the Angel One Investor Network who have performed at the top of the Angel Network’s for 2013.

Incoming chair, Colin Wyatt, who also served as master of ceremonies shared his insight on how he sees his role with the Angel One Investor Network, “As the incoming Chair of Angel One, I am taking over a well-oiled machine, put in place by my predecessor, Larry Innanen.  My goal is to help expand the membership and encourage more women investors to join our organization.” He sees events like the Founders and Funders Celebration as an opportunity to reach that goal.

Angel One Network Inc. is a member-based, not-for-profit organization of accredited investors who live, work or have strong interests in Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton and other communities in Southern Ontario.  Our sole purpose is to find quality companies for our members to consider and invest in.  They do so individually.  Angel One provides members with opportunities to increase their exposure to quality pre-screened companies seeking capital and gives the Angel investors the opportunity to expand their network of like-minded investors.
