PUNE, India - June 19, 2014 - PRLog -- InnoServ Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a Pune based Digital Solutions company conducted India’s 1st comprehensive study on “Adoption of Social Media in Academia” with the help of team from IIM Indore. The study is aimed at providing excellent insights to academia about what to do and what not to do on Social Media and overall guidance to achieve the business objectives through an effective Social Media strategy which ensures the success of Indian institutes . 61 institutes participated in the study which includes leading b-schools of India viz. IIM U, IIM K, SIBM, SP Jain Institute of Management etc.

Amidst the phenomenal growth of Social Media, many higher education institutions (and educators) now find themselves expected to catch up with this world of social media applications and social media users. The study was aimed to identify the extent of social presence that Indian institutes have adopted to through Social Channels like Facebook, LinkedIn , Twitter and many more. The study also focused on identifying how b-schools are using these platforms to meet there varied business objectives like admissions, profiling their staff on professional networks such as LinkedIn, Slide Share etc., creating communication channels using variety of mobile applications to collaborate between faculties and students. Its interesting to note that in many cases Social Media and Digital strategies are helping colleges to achieve better online reputation and thus positively impacting there overall brand image which helps them in securing better placements and admissions.

The team at InnoServ is attempting to validate certain common assumptions and also to burst certain myths about the usage and benefits of usage of social platforms. The ASMA Study will lay the foundation for the establishment of benchmarks and best practices in the form of a framework that provides collective knowledge of what works for academia, helps to enhance internal knowledge and gain confidence to adopt social media in academia, provided an industry benchmark for the academia to follow while adopting social media strategy to meet various business objectives at all functional levels and last but not the least ,it will provide a comprehensive study of best practices followed by the educational institutes hence the best way to have social media presence.
