HomeLyst, an online home furnishings start-up focused on compiling and displaying all furniture and home décor goods available and can be purchased online, recently had the ‘Beta’ launch of its website.

Commenting on the occasion, cofounder Raquel Bernal said: “At HomeLyst our main drive is to remove all obstacles between a person and the furnishings that fulfill her or his practical and aesthetic needs.”

The idea of HomeLyst came to its founders, Raquel Bernal, Aitziber Irisarri and Maria G. Picatoste, while looking for new ways to grow their previous endeavor—ArtTroop, an e-commerce site for affordable art. After realizing that most people do not buy art for its intrinsic beauty or value, but as decoration, they decided to expand the limits of their project. Their focus widened from art to home furnishings and décor.

When they were clear about the “what”, Raquel and Aitziber started thinking about the “how”. They had observed how aggregators such as Kayak and Skyscanner for plane tickets, Booking.com for hotel rooms, and Lyst.com for fashion had successfully bridged the gap between an increasing offer of products and a user with less time available to search and compare.

“We were bemused and surprised by the idea that, if you wanted to buy a sofa online, you needed to visit and browse several different websites, and somehow keep track of the array of sofas you liked until you were ready to make a decision and purchase one of them,” recalls Irisarri.

In order to avoid that arduous process, the HomeLyst team has developed a website where users will be able to discover and shop any home product they may be looking for—whether it is a sofa or a blanket, a bed or a duvet, a set of towels or a bathtub—on just one site. “We hope our users will find everything they need while saving a lot of time and potentially money,” adds Irisarri.

However, that is not the only advantage users will enjoy in HomeLyst. Anyone who registers with HomeLyst can create a Showroom, which is their own personalized shopping feed and will display featured products from the brands and stores each user chooses to follow. Also, users can personalize their HomeLyst, which doubles as a user profile and an area to keep track of all the products they love on the site.

Nevertheless, HomeLyst also wants its users to discover new products and brands and to be inspired. For that, the HomeLyst team has enabled the “Discover” feature, where users can find out more about new brands and stores and get to know them better throughout their product line. “Our goal is to help any user, from the uninitiated to the home décor whiz, find that unique furnishing that makes a house become a home,” concludes Picatoste.
