Cornerstone Church Changes the World in 48 Hours
Hundreds of families from Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Bear, Delaware, will be changing the world in 48 hours beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16, through 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.
“We have identified over 100 needs within our local community area, and our teams of volunteers will be lending a helping hand wherever they can make a difference,”
The idea for Change the World at United Methodist Communications started back in 2010. Mike Slaughter wrote a book called Change the World: Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus. It challenged Christians to step outside the church walls and get out into their communities. Jim Wallis, in his forward to the book, wrote, “Mike’s challenge is simple and direct: Quit worrying about getting people into your church and start finding new opportunities to move people who are already there out into God’s service.”
“From volunteering for a few hours at the Ronald McDonald House on a Saturday afternoon to spending time with residents at area nursing homes, our families will be changing the world and giving hope to people in need,” said “PW” Bargstadt, Coordinator of Special Projects at Cornerstone. Other projects taking place include providing gifts for first responders, community prayer walks, and providing a free car wash and snacks to people who are traveling on Route 896 in Bear.
