On the occasion of World Health Day, Lt. Gen Rajender Singh (Retd.), CEO, DLF Foundation says

DELHI/NCR, India - April 7, 2014 - PRLog -- “Health for All is a matter of concern in a public policy discourse of every mature society as it also determines the socio-economic health of the nation. This World Health Day the theme chosen by WHO of ‘Preventing and controlling vector-borne diseases’ is extremely relevant for India, given our tropical settings. Even as cases of malaria have dropped significantly compared to 2012, there has been a sudden spurt in the number of dengue cases reported from Punjab, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Recognizing the need to address this threat, DLF Foundation has been focusing on preventive health care with community participation. Fumigation exercises are conducted regularly with special attention during the peak season to check the breeding of mosquitoes. More importantly education and awareness activities are undertaken throughout the year. Rallies, health talks, counseling against open defecation and community vigil were organized to ensure that community adopt proper health behavior. The solid waste management programme has already been showing remarkable impacts which would go a long way in sustainably managing vector borne diseases.

We pledge our support to World Health Day and promise to join in the fight to reduce the global burden of vector-borne diseases, and help all Indians maintain a healthy lifestyle. In our constant endeavour to provide suitable health facilities, we at DLF Foundation plan to increase the operations of Rural Preventive Healthcare Centres in villages to provide free medical consultancy, health checkups and subsidized medicines to the villagers.

Additionally, regular camps for immunization, eye camps, HB estimation camps will be continued with renewed vigour.”
