Doris Day's First USA Fansite Helps Mark the Legend's 90th Birthday!

Doris Day, Entertainment Icon and Animal Activist, has been in the public limelight since the mid 1930's. In all that time, she was never celebrated in the US with a fansite. The ones she did have were in England or Australia. That is about to change.

BOSTON - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Doris Day has seemingly done it all. For nearly 75 years she has been recognized as a gifted singer, dancer, actress in scores of movies and a television star. In addition, her work as an Animal Activist has changed the way millions have viewed our "Four-leggers" as Miss Day affectionately refers to her furry friends. To this day, Doris Day remains the top-ranked female box-office star in motion picture history.

On April 3rd she will mark another milestone - her 90th birthday. There will be even more to celebrate with the launch of her first ever American Fansite. While she has and continues to have tremendously popular sites in both the UK and Australia,  the folks at DorisDayMagic have decided it is high time she had a true fansite in the USA.  The site is scheduled to be opened by  the end of March, at which time visitors will find the website address at www.dorisdaymagic.com .

While there is an American site dedicated to Doris and her career at (www.dorisday.com) , this site is primarily operated by her management staff and is not a true "fansite". The same could be said for the site dedicated to the Doris Day Animal Foundation (ddaf.org), which brings attention to her past and ongoing work on behalf of animals. This foundation has been active for more than 35 years.  The longest running fansites are in England (dorisdaytribute.com and dorisday.net). Even earlier, there was a fan club known as The Doris Day Society which operated out of the UK where Miss Day continues to have a tremendous fan base, and which boasted members worldwide.

Janet Moore of Boston decided that Doris Day needed to be honored by her American fans, who are legion, and started this new site. "I want this to be a place for anyone to come to find out more about Doris - whether you're a fan or not", she noted.  Plans are to have the site open prior to Miss Day's birthday although it may not be completely finished by the time it is unveiled.  Janet notes, however, that "it is going to be an ongoing project with frequent updates." She hopes that fans and others will visit on a regular basis, noting that Doris refers to her fans as "friends".

Some of these fans/friends from all over the United States have been working collaboratively to help develop this site in order to make it as complete and accurate as possible. Fans from England have also pitched in, and Janet is very grateful for their help and assistance. Among the topics that will be available on the site are: a biographical sketch, pictures of Doris from birth to the present, very complete information about her movies, television appearances and radio show with links to listening and watching many of these, her complete musical history, featuring some rare recordings, interviews, and a compilation of her many awards. There will also be information about "Doris Fashions" as the actress was renowned for her sense of style. Her current activity in Carmel and her animal activism are also  but a portion of what the site intends to make available. The plan is to make it a great source of information and entertainment that visitors will want to return to frequently as updates will occur on a regular basis.

What all Doris Day fans/friends have in common is a never-ending love and appreciation for all things Doris as well as a desire to share this love with the rest of the world. Mike DeVita, the webmaster at songsandmemories.com and the author of a recent book about Doris says, "the whole world needs to see what an important part Doris has played in the world of entertainment." Author Tom Santopietro, author of several books including a popular work about Doris entitled, "Considering Doris Day", explains in his book why she has been underappreciated for years and why that lack of appreciation needs a total turnaround. Paul Brogan author of "Was That a Name I Dropped?" commented: "Watching Janet, Mike and everyone devoted to Doris develop this site has been the most exhilarating experience for me. The site epitomizes all of the joy and magic that has made Doris Day a legend and I dare anyone to visit the site and not come away with a deep and abiding respect for this woman."

Visitors to the new website won't have any reason to ask that question after spending some prime time with America's favorite blonde.
