“Geosports came from a broader idea we had to connect people with similar interests to work on projects together,” said Geosports Lead Developer, Vince Martel. “When we did a market study, we realized that most people would have used the app for sports more than anything else, so we decided to put all our efforts in connecting people through sports.”
In North America, over the past 20 years, the percentage of sports participation has dramatically decreased across all age groups. While the vast majority of people are permanently connected to their mobile devices, and less involved in sports and other physical activities.
Geosports lets you advertise the sport you want to play, the time and date you are available, and instantly send notifications to everyone in your immediate vicinity who share the same interest.
“There is a big demand for an application like ours and surprisingly nothing exists that’s similar to it,” said Martel. “The motivation to play sports comes from the people, but with Geosports, we think it will make a big difference in how people are able to connect to partake in live sporting events. In the long run, we believe people will now have the power to explore more opportunities to go out and have fun doing what interests them.”
The app will be available at no cost to users. However, there will be in-app purchases that will introduce new tools for users who want to organize larger events, sell gear, or branch out further to reach a larger target audience.
“Watch out for Geosports in the next year and a suite of related apps to come that we think will be even more popular as people have everything related to sports in a one-stop shop,” said Martel. “It is now time for people to manifest their enthusiasm and be a part of the development process. For us to create something that really works, we need people’s insights and feedback, that is crucial!”
