Morgan Advanced Materials raises funds for children with autism at Standard Chartered Marathon 2013

SINGAPORE - Dec. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- SINGAPORE -- Morgan Advanced Materials, a global materials engineering company, announces their participation at the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2013 (SCMS), which will be taking place on 1st December 2013. Running for a good cause are twenty-four representatives, including Morgan’s leadership team for the region and employees from Singapore, China, India, Australia and South Africa. They have pledged to raise funds for the Autism Association (Singapore) for the second consecutive year.

Autism Association (Singapore) is a charitable institution that provides ongoing programmes for children with autism and their families. It aims to initiate, organize and support provision of a broad spectrum of services for people with autism in Singapore.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Ian Robb, President of Morgan Advanced Materials for Asia Pacific, said: “Aiding children with autism in realising their full potential and providing them with a supportive environment for their learning and development is a cause close to our hearts. This year is no different as we continue to raise funds for the good work that the organisation is doing and we hope to create a positive impact on the lives of children with Autism and their families.”  Robb added.

SCMS carries on the tradition of ‘running for a good cause’ for 11 years now since 2002. Last year, SCMS participants raised over S$150,000 for local charities. The annual marathon has seen a significant increase in the number of participants from 6,000 runners in 2002 to over 53,000 in 2012.The annual race route encompasses some of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks including Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, Sentosa and Orchard Road.

Morgan Advanced Materials also recently participated in Shanghai’s largest community running event to raise funds for the mentally and physically challenged in China.  The company, in association with the British Chamber, also extended assistance to Chinese children with cerebral palsy.
