Mullins Select SoftTrace for Quality Management & Traceability

Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- SoftTrace, a Cork (Ireland) based provider of Food industry software, today announced that Wisconsin based Mullins Cheese and Mullins Whey have selected the SoftTrace suite of quality management and traceability modules to support all aspects of whey and cheese production at the company’s state-of-the-art Mosinee facility.

As the largest family owned and operated cheese manufacturer in Wisconsin, Mullins produce a range of cheese products for national distribution. The company’s whey products are distributed globally for use in nutritional supplements, sports drinks and food products.

The individual SoftTrace modules add up to a plant-wide data collection and management system. The suite can be implemented on a modular basis to create a system with the required degree of flexibility to meet the specific needs and budget of individual customers in the Dairy industry.

Mullin’s have elected to implement the full SoftTrace suite. They will use it to eliminate areas of data disconnect within the facility and easily meet the traceability mandate with bi-directional traceability at the touch of a button as well as enhanced rapid response and product recall capabilities. They will benefit from real-time quality management and the integration of quality data with all other operational areas as well as enhanced production efficiency, waste and cost reductions. The SoftTrace Intake Management, LIMS, In-Process, Inventory Management and Traceability Management modules will interface with the company’s current process automation, patron collection, producer payroll and business systems to seamlessly integrate all critical supply chain, quality, manufacturing and business data.

At the Mullins Mosinee facility, SoftTrace will track and monitor milk and ingredients received and released into the manufacturing process, capture information from laboratory instruments, manage laboratory information, track and integrate in-process data to product tank and individual vat level, manage inventory, control dispatch based on positive release procedures and ensure full traceability to the shipped finished product.

Integration between SoftTrace Intake Management and LIMS will create an unbroken traceability chain from the company’s raw material and active ingredient sources to quality control and release into the manufacturing process. SoftTrace In-Process will extend the traceability chain from raw material receiving and active ingredient inventory to the in-process batches, bulk finished product and finished goods inventory. Together with SoftTrace LIMS it will provide instant access to detailed quality information on the batches of finished product and packed finished product units. Full integration of SoftTrace In-Process and Inventory Management will secure the production traceability chain by linking the process control sheets, packing, quality and inventory records. It will provide a profile of the quality and grade of all finished goods to individual pack level. Traceability to the customer will be maintained to unit level within the batch – completing the traceability chain from source to customer.
