Nov. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- There will be a new book available in time for Christmas shoppers that will take a unique and critical view of the man that some say is this generation's Einstein. Wormholes and Time Tunnels: Hawking's Infamous Legacy is said to be a critical analysis of Hawking and his work in the area of time and time travel physics and will be written by Marshall Barnes, the world's leading researcher in both those areas. The book will provide many new insights into Hawking's views as well as behind the scenes revelations from the world of physics.

"I was a cautious Stepehn Hawking fan there for a while in the '90s," Marshall says, "although my first encounter with his work was his idea that the universe would contract if the arrow of time flipped its direction. I knew that was wrong, flat out...". As it turns out Hawking would admit that he was wrong about that position, one of what would become a long list of errors, some of which Marshall would discover exclusively and then prove. The book goes into detail about these errors, how Marshall discovered and proved them and even why it is that Hawking, the man that the Discovery Channel referred to as the "greatest mind on the planet" most probably made them in the first place. It is the psychology behind Hawking's thinking and theories, that serves as one of the most compelling aspects of the book, as anyone can claim to argue why someone is wrong, but quite another to explain in great detail why they did what was wrong.

The most ardent Hawking fans may not like the book much because Marshall points out that he is worshipped by the most scientifically incapable of the crowd - more for his humor than anything that he's ever done in physics, but they will be hard put to rebuke Marshall's evidence because it is so overwhelming. At the same time, the book is far more than an attack on the popular genius. In fact, by showing where Hawking has erred it simultaneously shows what is correct and why. Every criticism of Hawking's pronouncements is chocked full of analysis of the counter argument - in fact there is a retelling of the first ever experiment proving Hawking wrong, with behind the scenes detail and photographs. Actually, the book is full of photos and diagrams, so much so that the reader will come away realizing more about time and the potentials for time travel than they ever would from the totality of Hawking's work - precisely the reason why die-hard Hawking fans will hate it. Though Hawking may not believe in God, to the Hawking fanatic, he is God but this book seems certain to topple that image of him from on high and back to Earth with the rest of us.

The book is being edited now and is slated for a December release date to be availble online at Blurb.com.
