SGS Successful Participation at Power Week Asia Conference in Malaysia

SGS is pleased to announce the successful presentation of SGS power and utilities services at Power Week Asia 2013 Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
 
Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- SGS successfully presented the SGS suite of inspection and non-destructive testing services that help utilities and owners operate and maintain their power plants in a more effective and efficient way at Power Week Asia2013 Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. SGS has participated as a delegate and an exhibitor at Power Week Asia since 2011 and returned this year as an industry league sponsor of the event, demonstrating SGS presence in the power and utilities sector in Malaysia and neighboring countries.

A Southeast Asia regional conference, Power Week Asia focuses on trends and challenges in the operation and maintenance of power plants and provides a unique platform for public and private power generating utilities, government bodies and policy makers and technology solution and service providers to exchange ideas on the issues challenging the power industry today. This year's event, held at the Novotel Kuala Lumpur Hotel on 27-28 August, hosted 74 delegates from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

Mr. Mohd Azam Saat, Head of NDT Division, SGS Malaysia, presented a paper entitled, “Phased Array in Lieu of Radiography for Weld Inspection of Small Bore Tubes” to an enthusiastic audience of industry delegates. In the presentation, Mr. Saat explained the phased array (http://www.sgs.com/%7E/media/Global/Documents/Flyers%20an...) technology and argued its substantial reduction of down time for inspection as a significant value when compared to down time required to conduct radiography testing. Mr. Saat further strengthened his position by discussing an SGS project case study, displaying phased array (http://www.sgs.com/~/media/Global/Documents/Flyers%20and%20Leaflets/SGS-IND-NDT-Phased%20Array-A4-EN-10.ashx) equipment and demonstrating the technique to illustrate the potential benefit to power plant operation and maintenance.
