An animated and intuitive app for children on the Android App Store

Pet Animals is an interactive self-learning android app to educate toddlersonseven animals.

Manipal, Karnataka – August, 2013 – Manipal Digital Systems Pvt. Ltd. (MDS) has launched an interactive self-learning app, Pet Animals for toddlers and preschoolers. The homeschooling app educates the little ones about the moves, habitat, sounds, and activities of seven pet animals:  Cow, Horse, Rabbit, Donkey, Dog, Sheep, and Cat.

     

The first screen of Pet Animals displays all seven animals, and tapping over anyone takes us to its habitat. There we are introduced to the animal’s colorful environment, and its child. An ideal habitat for every animal is presented in the app. For example, the dog is given an open space with a dog house, whereas the cat is shown with its kittens in a living room.

It was interesting to notice that there weren’t any directions to tap on the scene, and every tap resulted in an action. When asked the app makers, what was the idea behind this strategy, they smartly averred, “toddlersaren’t expected to follow directions, and can be easily distracted within a blink of an eye. It was important to have a strategy, wherein some action would happen even on a random click or tap.”

Though every pet animal has 5 to 6 animations or moves, every animal home has something special to offer. For example, we could pick and places boxes for a donkey in a cart, or click pictures for the cat’s wall.

With thousands of gaming apps in the Android store, what triggered MDS to develop a learning app? “This is not our first education app. But before developing Pet Animals, intent was to create an interactive app that introduces toddlers and preschoolers to the pet animals. This is a smart and interactive app to enhance the learning experience”, states, Rajesh R, Project Manager, MDS. “Moreover, being a parent, it makes me happy to see that my toddler is learning even while playing”, adds he.

Though Pet Animals is free to download from the Google Play & Apple Store, but the makers ‘A to Z for Kids’ and ‘ABC’s are Fun’ did not reveal when they would move the app to the paid store.
