KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - May 31, 2013 - PRLog -- May 17 2013, Kuala Lumpur: The Expatriate Lifestyle Charity Golf Open 2013 was played at the prestigious Royal Selangor Golf Club on 17 May 2013 and was participated in by 92 of the best amateur expatriate golfers, who had a great time playing on one of the best courses in the country. As per the pre-tournament pledge, 100% of the players registration fees, donations, lucky draw and charity auction went to worthy causes with a record total of RM62,150 raised for children’s charities.

The day started on a high note with the golfers excited and competitive about who was going to win the trophies this year. Sadly the 18 hole tournament had to be trimmed to a 9 hole competition because of heavy rains, thunder and lightning.

The day culminated in the banquet hall of the RSGC for lunch, prize giving and cheque presentations to the beneficiaries: SOLS24/7, Precious Children’s Home and New Life PD. A special thanks for Maersk Drilling Malaysia Sdn Bhd for kindly donating RM5,000 to The Precious Children Home. As is traditional , representatives from the beneficiaries were there to receive their cheques and were joined by 45 under privileged children who had a great time visiting the club, enjoy a great lunch and engage in fun and games with ‘Uncle Boy Boy’ the clown. Not only that, the children also had a fun time getting their face painted and sharing toys with their friends in the toy corner, before taking home goodie bags filled with presents and toys.

The day which consisted of a gross and nett competition along with longest drive, hole-in-one and closest to the pin was filled with excitement as the field of 92 battled it out for first spot. The best amateur expatriate golfer title was won by Nathan Hauser for the third year running with Calle Lund and Alistair Guthrie as a close second and third.  The Longest Drive was won by Logan Evans and the Nearest to The Pin was won by Neil Williams. The winners walked away with holidays courtesy of Meritius Pelangi Beach & Spa Resort,Langkawi, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel and The Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur. The winners also received exclusive Porsche Design bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Porsche Design mini pack and chiller packs, Titoni Watches and Bioflow BioTitanium wrist bands.

The prize giving was followed by raffle draws with prizes courtesy of Shuzi Golf Jewellery, Asian Tigers, MST Golf, Xtra Furniture, CityGolf and Cronier Wines. The golfers also had a fun time bidding for an exclusive Johnnie Walker Blue Porsche Design The Cube, which was originally the prize for the hole in one and the Variable Balans from Varier- The world’s first kneeling chair courtesy of Xtra Furniture.

Empowered once again by the success of this tournament, Mr. Graham Paling (Group CEO of Mongoose Publishing, who publish Expatriate Lifestyle magazine) is already looking to the future with the advent of a fourth charity open: “This has been a record-breaking year for us and we are already planning to make the 2014 event even bigger and  better . I would also like to say how well all the players played. And just as importantly how they entered into the spirit of the event. They raised an amazing amount of money and made a real difference to hundreds of underprivileged children. We can all be very proud of our efforts.”
