Follow on Google News | TFCKat’s remaining contender all set to compete in PGT 4 quarter finalsEight TFCkat winners get Big 3’s “yes” at auditions, Canada’s bet nearly gets into semis
Just last month, the biggest and grandest talent-reality show drew the curtains for its 36 quarter finalists, then with two TFCkat winners getting the chance to compete in the semi-final round – Cris and Russel Figueroa from Canada. Just over the weekend, Russel nearly got into the semi-finals until quick face magician Tito Cris got the judges’ vote. This week, Cris comes back from Dubai where she lives with her husband. Cris said she is ready and excited to compete with the six acts. Aside from welcoming a variety of remarkable new acts this season, PGT 4 also proved to be the biggest PGT edition yet as the show conducted worldwide and online auditions where Cris and Russel figured well. Since February, Filipinos worldwide have witnessed the stiff competition among contestants both from the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, both groups sharing talent of global dimensions. In total, the 36 quarterfinalists were composed of 14 dance acts; seven singing acts; three musical acts; and 12 variety/novelty acts that included various stunts, outdoor acts, magic acts, and a whole lot more. Exciting new acts ranging from car drifting, synchronized swimming, motor stunts, flair tending, and dog tricks made it to this season’s quarterfinals and started competing this month for the semi-final round. Among those who got the judges’ approval at audition stage were TFCkat winners Cris, Russel, Gail Belmonte (Singapore), Joy Carbonell (Hong Kong), and Remar Kenji Ripo (Japan) from Asia, Maverick Silang Gomez (Spain) from Europe, Sean Hutton (Australia) from Oceana, and Daryl Ogalino (United States of America) from North America. Daryl impressed the judges as he sung a Filipino song flawlessly even when he did not speak the language very well. From Singapore, Gail brought her own singing style which Kris described as “angelic.” In the end, Cris Bernardo and Russel Figueroa continued in the running at the quarterfinals. Cris wowed the judges with her powerful rendition. When she was asked to sing another tune (Jennifer Hudson’s Listen), all judges gave their resounding “yes.” FMG said “You’re a great singer.” Russel on the other hand sang Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin (by Lani Misalucha) with much passion, much to the delight of Kris who remarked “Halatang paos pero kinaya pa rin. Bongga! (It was obvious that he is not physically well but he still sang well. It’s amazing!).” For a chance at the semis, Russel sang with much passion but his health condition got the best of him. Remaining quarterfinalists who are to compete in the next few days include TFCkat’s remaining contender Cris (who will compete this weekend); gymnasts of Philippine Gymnastics Athletics and Academy; metal ring dancer Frankendal Fabroa; illusionist dancers Crewckattz Dancers; singing YouTube sensation Roel Manlangit; bromance dancers Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College Dance + Site Project; dance group VMA; folk dancers Bughaw Folkloric Dance Troupe; synchronized swimmers Rosenrei Synchro Sirens; car drifters Lateral Drift Productions Philippines Drivers; motor stuntmen Gensan Stunt Team; and Balungao Robotic Dancers. Who will join Chaeremon, The Miss Tres, Zilent Overload, Eumee, MP3, Symmetry, D’ Intensity Breakers and Tito Cris Castro in the semi-finals? End
