Does The Alberta Government Care If Your Small Business Survives?

Business Coach feels Alberta small businesses concerns are being ignored by the provincial government.

March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Edmonton, AB  "In a word, no," says Canadian business expert Greg Kopchuk.

Kopchuk is the Master Licensee of  Action Coach’s Alberta, and was  a successful Canadian realtor before 1999. He has been in business for himself since the 80s and with

the budget that came down for Alberta last week, he doesn’t see a lot of improvement on the horizon.

“ The latest stats from Industry Canada show that small business is 31% of Alberta’s GDP and accounts for 77% to 95% of the employees in the province (1). Yet 80% of all businesses in this country shut their doors on average every 10 years. A 50% failure rate for new businesses ‘is to be expected’. Does that sound right to you?” says Kopchuk.

“I consistently read and hear that the government simply does not care about these numbers. You can bet the banks won't help. Your lawyer won't help. Neither will your accountant. So what can an average business owner do to improve the odds?  One thing we have found when speaking to business owners is that businesses with real business coaching have a much, much better chance of succeeding.”

It’s one of the reasons that his business coaching franchise has been doing so well in the last few years. If people do decide to go with a business coach, the odds seem to dramatically increase in the positive. Says Kopchuk, “ Since 2002 97% of our clients are still in business. That kind of success speaks for itself.”

So why doesn’t the government  care if small business succeeds or fails?

Greg says that it’s all about accountability- something the government needs to improve upon. “If a small business was running with the deficit that they are, they would be out of business in a week. We need people to stand up and talk about these issues, because it’s a key factor in our improving our economy.” Says Kopchuk.

Greg Kopchuk is the Master Licensee of  ActionCoach’s Alberta, Peel, York, and Halton regions of Ontario. When he became Master Licensee of the  Canadian (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=45.4,-75.6666666667&sp...)Franchise company in 2004, he managed to take it from bankruptcy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bankruptcy) and turn it into a multi-million successful national company. Greg has been awarded the Master Licensee award two years in a row from Brad J Sugars and Action International. He prides himself on being a hard-working, successful business (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business) coach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coach_%28sport%29) who encourages all small business (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_business) owners and entrepreneurs to stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
