March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- An exciting new publication is in the offing, aimed at the Muslim traveler inbound into South Africa.

Set to be launched in Kuala Lumpur during the Global Halal Week in April this year, this guide will contain pertinent information of halaal-certified and Muslim-owned as well as Muslim-operated establishments within the travel and tourism and other related sectors.

In addition to halaal restaurants and take-away haunts, the guide will also include every detail pertinent for the average Muslim tourist, including on accommodation, registered tour guides, shuttle services, transport, event coordinators, caterers, markets, entertainment and leisure, cultural-heritage hotspots, museums, lifestyle, media, supermarkets, products, financial services, general, confectioners and chocolatiers and the likes.

To be a joint venture between South Africans and Malaysians who are active within the global halal market, the book targets the more than 10,300 Malaysian tourist arrivals into South Africa in 2011, a significant 12% increase from that of the previous year’s. From January to October 2012, over 8,200 Malaysian tourists visited the Rainbow Nation.

“South Africa’s ‘many cultures one nation’ and the respect and understanding we have between the people of various faiths means that this guide would be of interest to our domestic market, both Muslim and non-Muslim as well,” said Miss Nazreen Salie, Founder of Cape Malay Consultants, co-publishers of the book.

Active within the global halal market since 2006, Cape Malay Consultants brings to the table a wealth of local contacts and international experience. H Media, a Malaysian halaal media house and publishers of The International Halal SME Report Directory and several online portals, including HalalMedia.net and HalalSME.com, will act as the Malaysian representative throwing in their weight within editorial and publishing.

“South Africa has a rich and diverse Muslim population and an array of local cultures and cuisines. It would be a crime not to highlight these to the rest of the 1.6 billion Muslims throughout the world. So yes, we sincerely believe that there is a dire need for such a guide,” said Mr. Kamarul Aznam Kamarozaman, Editorial Director of H Media.

“We would like to work with all parties who has a stake in this industry, hence we have approached the Ministry of Tourism, the Premiers’ Office and the appropriate MECs, local governments, tourism entities, tour operators, owners of tourism-related establishments, the United Ulema Council as well as the Halaal certifying bodies etc,” added Nazreen.

The book will be launched at the 10th anniversary of the International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2013 – www.mihas.com.my) in Kuala Lumpur and will be subsequently sold at premium bookstores and retail outlets throughout Malaysia.
