State give priority for environmental clearance for green projects

Jan. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Gone are the times when Green projects used to only sold only due to location specificity only. Now, as the contemporary urban Indian has become conscientious of one's health as well as sensitive to the issues of environmental importance, several developers are banking on the concept of green buildings to sell its projects.

As per media reports, the government came up with a new scheme whereby approval papers for green certified buildings will be kept on the top of the pile of projects lines up for environmental clearances. The duration of getting such approval for a conventional building can extend to a duration of nearly an year and a half. Unfortunately, only five out of around 300 buildings seek such an incentive. However, not many real estate companies are aware about such intensives or the possibility of fast tracking the process of environmental approval. Sunil Mantri from Mantri Realty confirms the same. A cautious investor and home-seeker should be aware of those whose words hold no meaning. This is because almost every other project boasts of offering a green life while not all actually deliver what it preaches. In fact, while all developers are not able to cater to the need of green buildings, as a marketing tool it is not so hard to paint a picture of such a project. Green buildings are beneficial because these utilize less water, less energy, generate less waste materials. Moreover, these help to preserve natural resources and also assist to engage its residents in a healthy environment. The construction cost of green buildings is higher than those of other projects. One certification which identifies a building as ' a green building' in India can be acquired from the Indian Green Builders Council.
