ABSOLUTE is a large project that gathers 16 partners from 7 countries (France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Australia, Slovenia and Romania). MIRA TELECOM is the only partner from Romania and the component within the project, performed by the company, benefits from European financing worth 244,500 Euro. Among the partners, there are industrial companies, universities, small and medium enterprises, regulation institutions, network and satellite operators and end users.
The project ABSOLUTE was launched following the studies which showed that in the aftermath of a natural disaster, a calamity or an unexpected event, the telecommunication infrastructure plays a key role in the casualty rescue operations. In most cases the inherited land infrastructure is seriously damaged and cannot guarantee reliable services for the citizens and for the rescue teams.
It is also well known the fact that the current public safety networks cannot provide enough capacity for broad band applications.
The main objective targeted by the project ABSOLUTE is the creation and validation of a rapidly accessible mobile network, able to provide broad band services based on a flexible, resistent and reliable design.
The project will be delivered in 36 months, starting from October 1st 2012 and is financed through the FP7 (Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development)
