iQuate publishes case study about Oracle ULA optimization

Nov. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Beginning in April 2012, iQuate began work on an Oracle Deployment Baseline and ULA Optimization project at a FTSE 100 company which was approaching the end of its Oracle ULA contract.

The IT environment comprised approximately 1500 servers in a number of datacenters. The server environment was multi-platform and involved clusters and virtualization. These factors have a significant implication for a company’s software license requirement, especially in the case of Oracle.

The goals of this project were to:

•   Improve the customer’s negotiation position by ensuring they had full understanding of their software deployment and license requirements
•   Reconfigure hardware to support high availability
•   Ensure that Options were deployed correctly, under the terms of the existing license
•   Maximize the value of the existing Oracle ULA
•   Maintain compliance

The project delivered optimization opportunities of over £8,000,000 ($12,700,000) and immediate cost avoidance of £2,500,000 ($3,900,000).
