Realtime technology to protect and serve

Residential security and the rollout of comprehensive, automated solutions to control access and secure properties is a high-growth area within the security technology space.

Nov. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- It is an area where there has been a noticeable and visible increase in innovation, driven primarily by cost, ease of use and effective resource management.

Experts within the critical business disciplines of access control and physical security suggest that business owners are investing more readily in the fully automated, wireless systems that easily link with existing methods of security and are considered more accurate – and therefore more effective.

Moreover, advances in network connectivity through continuous efforts to deploy fibre optic technology to the home means that decision makers now have more options – and that is always a good thing when one is talking security says Louis Parker, CEO of ATEC Systems and Technologies (ATEC).

“The reality of commerce today is that every effort has to be made to protect resources – be it infrastructure, people or the physical premises. Business owners understand this and fortunately there has been significant progress made in the area of security control solutions that offer decision makers the ability to instantly and effectively control access and safeguard sensitive areas,” says Parker.

In addition to the installation of CCTV and similar systems, as well as the introduction of Fibre-to-the-Home, companies like ATEC are rolling out next-generation wireless infrastructure.

It offers advanced features such as 128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) encryption, as well as MAC (Media Access Control) address filtering.

”We are now dealing with technology that is simply more secure, more advanced and more practical than it was years ago. It has value, in terms of cost, efficiency and ease-of-use, within the security market, particularly from an access point of view,” Parker continues.

The emphasis today, when it comes to solution acquisition and integration, is on centralised information access and control. Service providers are aware of this and now link systems across a single platform or database.

Important components such as ID scanner technology, biometric readers and the like are connected to- and automatically run off this centralised database of information.

It makes control of resources that much easier and more effective. Aspects such as realtime reporting, instant access to information and automated control are considered game-changers in this market.
