Morinosuke Kawaguchi is an innovation and competitive strategy consultant at the global strategy consulting firm, Arthur D. Little, (Japan) Inc., where he is Principal & Associate Director.

He is an authority in the fields of Technology & Innovation Management, Market Strategy, Product Engineering, and Intellectual Property Management and advises many of Japan’s biggest corporations. Before becoming an innovation consultant in 1999, he was a Senior Engineer for fifteen years at Hitachi Inc., where he received several Strategic Patent Awards.

He is a sought-after lecturer and has given unique keynote speeches and held workshops at international conferences, government institutions and companies. He captivates his audience with unconventional cases, surprising statistics, and inspiring conclusions. Yahoo! Japan selected his TEDxTokyo lecture as one of the world’s Top 5 presentation styles. He is the only Japanese on the list.

His curriculum as lecturer includes TEDxTokyo, Honda, Fujitsu, NEC, Uniqlo, Nissan, NTT, Xerox, the European Institute of Japanese Studies, and Sweden’s Annual Growth and Innovation Day “Tillväxtdagen”.

He is a visiting professor for the Global MBA Course at Doshisha Business School in Kyoto and holds lectures for the postgraduate program at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has also lectured for Harvard Graduate School of Design, Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), at Madrid’s E.O.I. Business School, Barcelona’s Elisava Design School or at the University of the Arts London.

He is a popular interviewee both in Japan and abroad and has been featured by many international publications, including The Korea Times, WIRED, Germany’s Die Welt and Handelsblatt, Switzerland’s Basler Zeitung, Italy’s Il Sole 24 Ore and many more.

His book “Geeky-Girly Innovation: A Japanese Subculturalist’s Guide to Technology and Design” won the Nikkei BP BizTech Book Award in 2008. In Taiwan, it was listed among the top ten “Great Technology Management Books 2010”. That same year, Taiwan’s Small and Medium Enterprise Administration in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and South Korea’s KITECH, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, studied the book to be applied in their countries’ technology and innovation strategies. Kawaguchi’s second book “The World Acclaimed: Made by Japan”, a strategic guideline for world market positioning, was published in 2010.
