June 11, 2012 - PRLog -- 6th June, 2012, Dublin, Ireland – SaveNet Solutions, a pioneer in Ireland’s cloud computing market, has joined with Veeam, an innovative provider of VMware VM backup and replication, to deliver Veeam Disaster Recovery (DR) as a Service. Designed for SMEs, DR as a Service allows businesses with virtualised IT environments to bolster their backup and disaster recovery strategy with offsite backup and replication in the SaveNet Cloud.

Through its partnership with Veeam, SaveNet has cloud-enabled its single-tenant data protection technology. “The result is a fully managed service that includes disaster recovery for desktops, remote login to the disaster recovery environment, daily monitoring, one full disaster recovery test each year, and of course, restoration when needed,” says Susan Dixon, Marketing Director at SaveNet Solutions.

By taking Veeam Backup and Restoration to the Cloud, SaveNet delivers significant advantage over traditional tape backup which often includes storing a tape in someone’s home or paying for secure storage. In the event of server failure, the tape has to be located before executing time-consuming processes that have typically never been tested.

“Now, thanks to the cloud, virtualised servers and SaveNet, a business can automatically store its backup off site in the SaveNet cloud,” says Ian Wells, Regional Director, NEMEA, Veeam.  “In the event of failure, recovery can be instant – a technician simply restarts the failed machine from the backup stored in the cloud and everyone gets back to work!”

Other benefits of SaveNet’s DR as a Service include:

Annual testing assures businesses that, when they are needed, restoration services work properly. To date, SaveNet’s testing has a 100% success rate. That’s in contrast to traditional tape based Disaster Recovery services that do not routinely test processes for restoring data to a syndicated server.

An onsite backup appliance serves as a management and WAN optimisation device for nightly offsite replication to SaveNet’s cloud. The appliance also stores a local copy of data to act as an onsite business continuity solution.

In the event of server failure, SaveNet manages restoration processes from beginning to end. Employees remain productive throughout by connecting, via VPN, to the disaster recovery environment to access files, databases, and applications.
Service contracts scale with client requirements. SaveNet continues to deliver on service level agreements as new users are added and managed data stores increase in size. Service is never confined by contractual terms nor is constant renegotiation required.

“Having delivered Cloud Disaster Recovery solutions since 2007 and with a 100% customer retention rate, SaveNet Solutions understands the value DR as a Service will bring to cost-conscious SMEs that rely heavily on data and application access,” says Dixon.

Beginning in June 2012, SaveNet Solutions will make Veeam DR as a Service available to partners and clients in Ireland.
