June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Leyton’s scientists, engineers and Head of Tax will impart their extensive, technical knowledge and provide expert but practical tips on how companies can ensure they are claiming their full and proper entitlement under the R&D Tax Credit scheme. The changes to the R&D Tax Credit scheme made in the recent Finance Act will also be covered in detail.

One challenge companies can have when looking at making an R&D tax credit claim is identifying the activities undertaken that qualify and the start/end dates of those activities. Another challenge is identifying and keeping the relevant documentation necessary to substantiate the claim. These are areas that Leyton’s senior scientific consultants will cover in detail on the day. Based on the feedback received from previous attendees, this information has been particularly useful to claimant companies.

With robust and fully supported claims, the credit can incentivise companies to make the levels of investment in R&D necessary to create long term, sustainable growth.  Eoin Brennan, Head of Tax at Leyton says “Companies that allocate resources, both financial and human to R&D activities, have in most cases fared much better during this economic downturn than those who have not. This seminar is aimed at companies claiming or considering claiming the tax credit and will provide practical, “real life” information including, common pitfalls to be avoided“.

Leyton have assisted companies of all sizes and across all industry sectors in claiming their full entitlement under the R&D Tax Credit scheme and supporting those claims. This has given the company an insight into the exciting and high quality R&D activities being undertaken in Ireland.  “However,” Brennan continues, “what is equally clear is that some companies are still not claiming their full entitlement; while other companies may be leaving themselves open to adjustments by including activities and expenditure that do not qualify. With Revenue audits into R&D Tax Credit claims on the increase and the significant changes to the scheme in the recent Finance Act, this seminar comes at an opportune time to discuss these and other relevant issues”.
