Jinny Releases White Paper Outlining Solution for Mobile Operators Countering OTT Threat

Operators’ revenue streams from value-added services and voice are increasingly under attack from the OTT voice and IP messaging services popularised by providers like Skype™ and Facebook. Industry analysts Informa estimate that a 10% increase in smartphone penetration could cost Western European operators US$1.19 billion in voice and messaging revenues, and a report by Ovum states that “Social messaging apps cost networks $13.9billion in lost revenue in 2011.”

Jinny’s own research into this problem has given rise to a new product from Jinny called VAVOOMB (Voice and VAS over mobile broadband). VAVOOMB provides a unifying technology by which operators can combine voice, VoIP, SMS, video calling, instant messaging and social media under a single identity – the subscriber’s MSISDN (mobile phone number).
