Feb. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- From 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday February 23, Oxford Learning will host a free seminar for Stoney Creek parents entitled The Tweenage Tango: It Takes Two, designed especially for parents with children ages 8 to 18. The seminar will provide parents with helpful information about how they can love and support their adolescent children and support them more easily without the struggles that often occur.

The seminar will help Stoney Creek parents recognize that social pressures, the drive to shape identity and brain development work together in adolescents to shape them into unpredictable and often challenging individuals.

As parents come to understand more about their children’s behaviour, they will be able to choose more positive responses that avoid the reactive approach that is often used without positive results.  Parents will come to see parenting as a dance that often requires “fancy footwork” and can be enjoyed by both parents and children.

The event’s guest speaker is Michelle Keeley, a certified personal and parenting coach with two years experience as an educator. She is also a mother of two teenage boys, and she specializes in helping parents consider adolescent behaviour from a different perspective.

Stoney Creek Parents can register for the seminar, which will take place at Oxford Learning (520 Highway #8), by calling 905-664-9449 or by visiting their website at: http://www.oxfordlearning.com/stoneycreek. The seminar is free to attend.
