Nov. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- EnviroTech Specialist Services Ltd have completed a twelve month specialist contract to remediate and recover usable crude oil from land and water courses contaminated in the largest on-shore oil field in Eastern Europe for a Canadian exploration and production company.

EnviroTech played the crucial role by providing key equipment and technical management shipping six containers of equipment over for the start of works in October 2010 along with site personnel for an initial six month trial contract. The Cardiff based company successfully completed the trial period and were then awarded an extension of works which concluded in October 2011.

Six of the company’s personnel were involved in the project, working under the direction of Richard Kay the Project Director who was ably assisted by his back to back project manager Leighton Loftus, who also acted as the company’s Safety Manger. Working a gruelling schedule of twelve hours per day, seven days per week for up to forty two days at a time, the team identified, excavated and processed over 5,200 tons of material and over 16,000 barrels of oil were returned to the customer to supplement the existing field production. During the eleven months on site over seventy areas of pollution around redundant and operational well heads, tank storage sites and water courses were cleared and, where appropriate, the ground returned to a usable condition by the addition of new soil and fertilizers.

Richard commented, “This project was one of the most challenging to date for our company, having worked in many countries and varying conditions. On this project we endured some extreme weather from flooding to 40+ degree temperatures with a Hybrid system that had been designed in the UK and built in country by a local engineering contractor. We were not in a position to assess the systems performance on the material or in the conditions we faced until we got out there. After almost a year of operation the processing results and recovered oil sample results were extremely impressive. Because of the success of the results achieved the contract was extended for a further six months and we are in talks to return next year.” He continues, “Next year’s proposal sees an enhanced operational plan to increase production and efficiency using new modifications to the setup.”

Completion of this contract meant the client was able to fulfil its obligations to the government and its investors. Importantly the local population were relieved of the obnoxious presence of the oil in an area of small villages and subsistence farming.
EnviroTech Specialist Services is looking forward to a continuing relationship with the company over the coming years which will clear a further substantial area of the oil field using a modified system to improve efficiently and production.
