The Knitting & Stitching Show Dublin was at Royal Dublin Society Main Hall Complex, Dublin from 10th November, 2011 to 13th November, 2011 during which it had seen an overwhelming response from the a record number of embroiders, knitters, hobbyists and textile lovers. At Knitting & Stitching Show, it’s not just about knitting and stitching but more…embroidery, felt-making, shibori dyeing, jewellery-making, card-making, mixed media...name it and it has it!
Drawing visitors from all over UK and Ireland, this event has in-store such exclusive supplies of textiles, fabrics and yarn that is hard to come by. Gallery exhibits put up by experts and well-known artistes has also been a crowd puller like never before. The added bonanza was an exhibition to celebrate twenty years of innovation in textile arts followed by a tribute to the best-known exponent in ecclesiastical embroidery, Beryl Dean through a lecture and by putting up the largest single gallery exhibition of her works.
Yet another of its attraction is the up cycling Academy featuring Barley Massey and other creative groups who taught the visitors the tricks of turning recycled materials into shining new garments. No stopping here for there’s more to the Knitting & Stitching Show Dublin. The Learning Curve offered a treasure-trove of new skills while hundreds of workshops made it a truly memorable experience.
And what’s more?...there has been an all-new section- Virtual Catwalk, where the Upcycling Academy participants were seen clothed in their own creations. With museum collections and competitions and more, this has been truly an eventful event!
