And second good news is that, new version of  Matriux Distro is set for release on August 15th, 2011. I have seen it and loved it and I am sure even you will like it, especially the login screen ;-)

For September issue, the theme will be Malware Attacks. Submit your articles to info@chmag.in.

a.  Gonna' Break It On Down Gonna' Kick It Root Down (Tech Gyan)
A very important topic is covered in this article by Elad Shapira. He works for AVG Mobilation as a mobile security researcher. He discussed routing in case of android technology based devices and phones. He covered rooting in devices from the basic level of understanding. You will understand 'Bricking' of devices. This article provides users an introduction to what causes and how UNIX based devices gets infected by malwares. Article gives code examples of infections and how bricking takes place in devices.

b.  SniffJoke – Defeating Interception Framework (Tool Gyan)
This article is about a sniffing tool called SniffJoke. It is an internet client running SniffJoke injects in the transmission flow, some packets are able to seriously disturb passive analysis like sniffing, interception and low level information theft. No server support is needed! Author Claudio Agosti explained how SniffJoke works, installation and usage and demonstrations showing various operations on network

c.  (Mom's Guide)
RSA has  for their customers:  This could be done if RSA can commit that these new tokens were also not part of the booty which the hackers "looted". Replace the RSA tokens and purchase from a different vendor:  This could also be a good approach, as long as the new vendor is reliable and selected after some due-diligence. Discontinue the use of hardware tokens:  Organizations could explore the option of not using any hardware based tokens. They may consider soft tokens (software based), or even the use of sending One Time Passwords (OTP) over SMS or emails.

d.  (MatriuxVibhag)
We have yet another interesting toolkit this month – The Social Engineering Toolkit. Specifically designed to perform advanced attacks against the human element, SET leverages the concepts of exploiting using the social engineering and human influential ideas. SET also combines the attacks of Metasploit Framework to enhance the success of attacks augmenting the social engineering attacks.

e.  (Legal Gyan)
Our Legal Gyan Expert Sagar described about patent laws and how patent law precisions applied to computer technology. Inventions are protected by Patents. It is a legal monopoly granted to the owner of new invention, for a limited period of time. It can be granted for product as well as process.
