Davis & Wilkerson Honored for Outstanding Commitment to Pro Bono Legal Services in Travis County

The Travis County Judiciary and the Board of Directors of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas will present Davis & Wilkerson, P.C. (www.dwlaw.com) with this year's Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award at a reception on June 15.

June 1, 2011 - PRLog -- AUSTIN, Texas – The Travis County Judiciary and the Board of Directors of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas will present Davis & Wilkerson, P.C. (www.dwlaw.com) with this year's Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award at a reception on June 15.

The firm is no stranger to the award, having been similarly honored a half-dozen other times over the last decade.

“This is always a tremendous honor for our firm” said David Davis, a shareholder at Davis & Wilkerson. “It’s a privilege for us to be able to help those, who can’t afford legal services on their own.”

The Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award honors firms and attorneys, who “commit an extraordinary amount of time assisting the low-income clients of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.” The Covington Award hangs outside the District Judges’ Office on the third floor of the Travis County Courthouse throughout the year.

Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (www.vlsoct.org) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in May 1981 by a small group of people dedicated to helping the overflow of low-income individuals seeking help from the local legal aid office.
