DKMS Angels Leighton Meester, Rihanna, 50 Cent, and Pharrell Lend Support For Bone Marrow Donation

May 22, 2011 - PRLog -- (NEW YORK, NY) Stars are leveraging the power of social media to spread the word about one-year-old Ayelet who has a rare bone marrow failure disorder and will not survive if she doesn’t have a transplant soon. On Wednesday, Leighton Meester rallied her fans, "We need to find a donor for Ayelet. She will not survive if she doesn't find a bone marrow donor. I urge everyone to get swabbed, so Ayelet can find her perfect match."

Rihanna and Pharrell took to their Twitter accounts urging their fans to get swabbed, "Can you help me find a lifesaver for baby Ayelet and other patients? #Getswabbed because maybe YOU can save a life! http://bit.ly/dkmskit."  

50 Cent posted to his Twitter and Facebook, "Help baby AYELET http://bit.ly/swabbed. She deserves to live u can save her n others get swabbed ya heard @getswabbed."

Ayelet is not alone. Leukemia and other blood cancers are the number one disease children die of in the U.S. Sadly no one in Ayelet’s family is a match so she has to rely on the kindness of strangers to save her life. Ayelet's mom added, “Every time my baby gets a tiny cold, I wonder if she will be able to fight it off. Please help us find a match for little Ayelet and for so many others who are in need of a lifesaving act. We are beyond grateful for this help!”
