More air and stability for improved server performance

And for all-round hardware and software protection, these racks are also resistant to extreme mechanical and electromagnetic limit loads. The perforated sheet SOLVARO developed for the VARISTAR series delivers stability by means of a honeycomb perforation and optimises ventilation with a special perforation for the rear walls. In addition, the perforation pattern provides an unobstructed view of the rack interior.

Perforated sheet with crisp contours and low tolerances

Schroff VARISTAR server racks have to meet stringent requirements. Even the doors have to meet strict specifications: reliable heat removal, stability and low tolerances are just as necessary as an unobstructed view of the hardware and wiring. SOLVARO blocks out the outer contours and the areas for handles and hinges with a special technology for perforated sheet – developed in-house – that delivers the lowest tolerances possible. Precision machining of the material enables the company to ship ready-to-install plates. This means customers are able to eliminate a complete automated further-processing step.

Function and design: honeycombs are the prototype

SOLVARO honeycomb perforation uses the mechanical advantages that natural honeycombs possess: the highest degree of stability with low material utilisation. With an 80% free cross section, the perforated sheet guards server rack interiors against overheating and dirt particles, while delivering the heat exchange required. It also allows an unobstructed view so the hardware and wiring can be monitored for proper functioning even when the door is closed. This shows that perforation is particularly suitable for server racks. SOLVARO perforation provides functionality – but technical design also plays an important role. Precise outer contours for handles and hinges and the homogeneous honeycomb pattern mean that the server racks are visually attractive as well.
