April 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Whole Foods Market is partnering with Save A Dog, Inc. of Sudbury, MA as the chief sponsor of Paws in the Park, a benefit to save homeless pets. The event will be held at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury on Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 10 am to 3 pm.

Whole Foods is dedicated to giving back to the communities in which it works. Several times a year, each Whole Foods store holds a community giving day (otherwise known as a “5% Day”) where 5% of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit or educational organization. Recently, Whole Foods Market in Framingham, MA dedicated one of its 5% Days to Save A Dog, where they raised over $4400 to help place homeless pets in safe and caring homes. Marketing Team Leader, Pirjo Silen, contributed additional funds to qualify Whole Foods as the Diamond Sponsor of the Paws in the Park event.

The event is for dog lovers and their pets and will raise money for homeless dogs. Some of the activities will include an Agility Try-out ring, Demonstrations, Parade of Adoptable Dogs, Doggie Games, face painting for the kids, a silent auction, food, Pet Photo Sessions, and Pet Massages. A scenic group walk with dogs and humans will take place beginning at 11am.

“We thank Whole Foods and Pirjo Silen for their generous support of our efforts to save homeless pets,” said Shirley Moore, Founder and CEO of Save A Dog, Inc. “Their support makes this a better community for all residents including our animals.”

About Save A Dog, Inc.
Incorporated in 1999, Save A Dog is a humane society with a focus on holistic care for the dogs who are taken into the shelter as well as an education in holistic care to the dog adopters. Started on a shoe string budget, out of the home of founders David Bernier and Shirley Moore, Save A Dog now houses its newly rescued dogs in a state-of-the-art shelter off Rt. 20 in Sudbury, MA. The house and barn have a homey appeal to the visitors and the dogs enjoy their brief stay at the shelter lounging on Kuranda beds listening to animal healing music. They are fed a high quality, holistic dog food, supplements, and vitamins. Shirley received her training in Homeopathic medicine and trains the staff and volunteers to administer the appropriate remedies to the dogs as needed. It makes perfect sense that Whole Foods would partner with such a like-minded organization. Save A Dog relies on fundraising and voluntary contributions to operate. Save A Dog is located at 604 Boston Post Road, Route 20, Sudbury, MA
