April 25, 2011 - PRLog -- With 2011 being billed "The year of the Tablet PC" iBex has made a entry into the sub-$300 range Android tablet PC arena. Starting with the 10-inch Android 2.0 operating system tablet with built-in GPS, iBex Released the Flytouch 3.

The initial release was a little bumpy as Flash 10.1 was not yet supported. The Flytouch III (FT3) firmware as shortly patched and after a month Fly Touch owners were able to upgrade their Roms.

Next, there was the issue of not being able to play the very popular iPhone / iPad game "Angry Birds." This was soon also fixed as some firmware gurus on the APad.tv forum were able to find a simple workaround solution.

The main issue was the available memory. While the specs on the 4gb listing explained that only 2gb's of memory were available after the Android O/S was installed, consumers simply did not under stand how the Google Android O/S worked.

The release of the 8gb iBex Flytouch3 not only solved the memory constraint issues (8 gig version had 6 gigs free), the 8gb FT3 also supported external 3g broadband internet via the WM-588 model or the Huawei E1750 USB modems.

With the release of the 16gb version, iBex has also upgraded the battery capacity 8000mah from 6400mah. The 6400mah Version got around 6 hours of usage, the extra 1600 mah's of juice should bump the battery usage up to 7 hours.

With the above issues addressed since the initial release the iBex Flytouch 3 is becoming a formidable rival the Apple's iPad and iPad 2.

Here are several quick comparisons between the iPad and the iBex Flytouch 3. Let's start with the things that both tablets have in common. Both the iPad and the FT3 have 1ghz processors, and both have wifi.

The iPad only has 256mb DDR while the Flytouch 3 has 512mb (android 2.0 aka Froyo, and Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb both require atleast 512mb internal ram)

The iPad has a 9.7" capacitive screen while the Ibex has a 10.2" resistive screen.

Here is a list of functions that the iBex Fly Touch 3 has that the iPad does not:

Multitasking, Built-in GPS, external 3g support, Ethernet connectivity, two USB ports, USB peripheral support, USB keyboard support, GPS antenna, Stylus, Web Camera, and HDMI. Not to mention Flash 10.1 support!

While some may prefer the Apple Operating System and capacitive screen, 16gb's and the features we just listed that the iPad does not have make the $230+ Flytouch 3 very temping compared the its rival the the $599 iPad 2 (last time I checked).  Design and Operation System development aside, apple is making an extra $370 in profit per iPad it sells.

This overcharging just because Apple was the "fad" will backlash as budget conscience smart consumers will soon see that the 16gb iBex Flytouch 3 has more functionality and an over 50% cheaper price tag than the iPad 2.
