April 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Q-KON SA, a South Africa-based provider of turnkey solutions covering specialist areas of telecommunications and ICT, in its capacity as strategic service provider to Business Connexion (Pty) Ltd. (BCX), provided a satellite communication network to assist in the roll out of mobile service stations.

Q-KON SA provided the X5 iDirect satellite modems, iNetVu® Mobile platform, and integration support to BusTruck, who completed the vehicle transformation into a service centre complete with desks, chairs, terminals, phones, external shaded area, and generator.

The iNetVu® Mobile Internet system is an automatic scanner, polarizer and beam positioning system for a foldable two-way satellite antenna. The solution is designed to automatically lock on to satellite signals and acquire the position based on both a GPS position reading as well as other positioning parameters.

This solution is specifically targeted at mobile users that require high-speed Internet access in remote locations or where cable and DSL do not exist. The only action required from the operator of the mobile station is to press a single button, that activates the system, and it is locked on and ready for service in less than three minutes.

As a result of this joint initiative between established experts in the field, three mobile sites have been put into operation, complete with satellite infrastructure and a number of critical applications to ensure high-speed data communications.

Additional capabilities and features offered by the iNetVu® Mobile Internet system include a 3-axis DC motor drive system, the fact that it is satellite independent (compatible with any configured satellite) and interfaces with a full-function controller with features such as automatic stowing, GPS and flux-gate compass and automatic satellite pointing.

“We have been very excited about our role in this project. This technology is specifically designed to add value within the mobile and wireless environment. There is an increased interest in satellite communications to expand its reach and bypass any limitations to general connectivity and part of this is because of advantages it has within the local context,” says Tjaart de Wet, Managing Director, Q-KON South Africa.

“Clients can benefit from a reliable, stable, satellite-based connection which will ensure that mobile service stations have the reach they require,” adds de Wet.

This is an ongoing project and service providers are in the process of scheduling technology integration, services and support at additional sites.
