Passkey 8.0.2.6 Supported AACS MKB v23 and Added Warning for Cinavia Protected DVD Disc

March 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Passkey was updated to version 8.0.2.6 on March 17, 2011. In this version, it can support the newest AACS MKB v23 for Blu-ray, and add warning while opening Cinavia protected DVD disc, so you can know that this DVD is Cinavia protected, you should use some software which can deal with Cinavia protection if you want to access and copy the disc content for playback on PS3.

Till now, MKB v23 is supported in Passkey's powerful decryption data server, which can be shared among all Passkey users with internet connection. And the server will be updated immediately every time when a new DVD/Blu-ray protection is out. Thus, all newly released DVD and Blu-ray can be unprotected by Passkey soon. For users who are disconnected from internet for some reason, they can also use the local data base of Passkey to deal with some discs.

For Cinavia protection, it is a kind of protection for theater movies or DVD & Blu-ray releases. Cinavia works in the condition that there's a proprietary imperceptible audio watermark embedded in a movie and a piece of hardware in the playback device which can detect if the movie being played is authorized or not. If not, a message will pop out to tell you the media is not authorized for playback on the device then the audio may be muted or the playback will stop entirely according to the device and firmware. Currently, the DVD releases with Cinavia protection are: "Resident Evil: Afterlife", "Takers", and "The Dilemma". And the known most popular hardware which can detect Cinavia is PS3.
