Feb. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- With nearly 20 years of providing quality education in the Malaysian Curriculum, Sri Garden is now evolving into an International Curriculum School.  Strategically located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, Sri Garden International (SGI) offers an international education grounded in the best of Asian and Western values to the expatriate and local community in Klang Valley.

SGI uses the British National Curriculum as a base and combines it with the best of Asian values, languages and culture.   In addition to learning English as a first language, all students learn Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.  Character Building is an important part of the school’s curriculum and is used to instill positive values and behavior amongst the students.  The majority of the teachers have undergone the Quantum Learning for Teachers (QLT) programme from the US.  This programme exposes the staff to innovative and creative methods to engage students in the classroom to promote effective learning.

“The start of SGI offers parents an International Curriculum School that not only prepares their children to have a global outlook and to become critical thinkers but also looks into positive character building by emphasising on values such as respect and care, excellence, integrity and openness in communication. We believe that SGI will appeal to the expatriates and locals as there are some who look for an international school that allows their children to understand Malaysians and Asian cultures,” said Mr Peter Wells, Principal of SGI.

“With the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), we understand that the Malaysian government is now actively pursuing professional talents from overseas (Expatriates and Malaysians) via the Talent Corporation to achieve its aim of becoming a high income, developed nation by 2020.  Therefore, SGI is definitely a value-for-money option for these sets of parents due to its location in the heart of Kuala Lumpur as well as the richness of its international school programme,” adds Mr Wells.

In September 2010, the Performance and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) launched the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) which provides a strong focus on a few key growth engines called the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).  Education and the Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley have been identified as 2 of the NKEAs.

SGI launched in January 2011 and currently has over 770 students across Primary (Years 1 to 6) and Secondary (Years 7 to 10) levels.  And, the students and parents have been pleased with the school.  For more information on SGI, please contact the Admissions department at (603) 92009898.
