By: Hummingbird Media The second of METAlliance's interactive events promises to be an intimate, rewarding experience for each participant. The organization's highly successful inaugural event was held last year in Hollywood at the historic studios in the Capitol Records tower, where participants got a close-up look at basic tracking, mixing and critical listening techniques. Following are the sessions that will be offered in New York: Recording: * Session One: Phil Ramone and Al Schmitt * Session Two: Elliot Scheiner and Ed Cherney Mixing: * Session Three: Chuck Ainlay * Session Four: "In the Box" home studio mixing with Frank Filipetti and George Massenburg in a home studio environment Attendance to all four sessions is $2495.00; space is extremely limited to ensure an intimate, personal setting. The KM D series and M 149 Tube: Modern Classics from Neumann In 2009, the KM D series microphone received certification by the METAlliance. The KM D series -- which allows engineers to incorporate digital technology closer to the sound source -- incorporates a patented Neumann A/D converter with a dynamic range that exceeds the capsule, thus enabling the converter to provide the audio recording system with a pure reproduction of the acoustic capsule. The KM D microphones are a part of the Solution-D family and have been developed in accordance with the AES standard for digital microphones (AES 42). The M 149 Tube microphone, which will be used during the METAlliance session later this month, is a variable dual-diaphragm microphone whose K 49 capsule derives from the legendary U 47 and M 49 microphones. The tube is complemented with a transformerless output circuit design; as a result, the M 149 Tube can feed long microphone cables without any coloration. End
