Dec. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Dabawenyos who would like to start their own business during the holidays are urged to join the Lifestyle Courses offered by the Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF).

“Budding entrepreneurs can learn how to cook delectable and special recipes that are just right for the holidays with the various baking and pastry lessons,” ICHEF school director Arlene Ozoa said.

On top of ICHEF’s baking and pastry lessons is the course dubbed as “Christmas Special Holiday” which includes recipes for Dark Fruit Cake, White Fruit Cake, Walnut Torte, Rum-Raisin Walnut Cheesecake, Festive Cookie Bar and Prune Cake.

Ozoa said those who would like to specialize in Sanz Rival should enrol in the “Glorious Sanzrival” classes. Participants will learn the basics of baking different Sanrival varieties like Almond, Cashew, Macadamia, Pistachio, Toffee and Mocha.

The Chocolate Truffle course consists of several winning recipes that will surely be a hit this Christmas.  The course includes Orange Truffle Cake, Mint Truffle Cake, Raspberry Truffles, Cherry Truffles, Coffee Truffles, ButterScotch Truffles and White Chocolate Truffles.

But for those who want to stay with the all-time favorites, ICHEF recommends the “Favorite Cakes” course which includes recipes for Caramel Cake, Banana Nut Cake, Pandan/Macapuno Cake, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Peach Walnut Torte and Brazo de Mercedes.

“Classes are going on and those interested to enrol should make their reservations early,” Ozoa said. Classes are conducted every Friday (6pm-10pm) and Saturday (9am-1pm).

She said participants will enjoy the hands-on experience amidst state of the art culinary equipments. Each class will have a minimum of six and a maximum of 15 participants, she said, so they will really be able to learn first-hand the process of baking these goodies and start their own business after completing the course.

Ozoa said ICHEF is promoting entrepreneurship and they are encouraging Dabawenyos to take advantage of these courses which are rarely offered in the city. Hobbyists will also be able to learn baking techniques during these courses, she added.

ICHEF is the leading culinary and hospitality school in Mindanao and is also offering degree and diploma courses in international culinary and hospitality/HRM.
