Richard M. Reyes Photo Gallery Exhibit Opening & Queens Asian Fest @ Payag an unexpected success

Nov. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK – The photo gallery exhibit by Richard M. Reyes was held on October 28, 2010 between 6:30pm-9:30pm at Payag Restaurant (51-34 Roosevelt Avenue) in Queens, New York.  To celebrate the Filipino-American heritage of the artist the Philippine “Lupang Hinirang” and United States “Star Spangled Banner” national anthems were played.  The GMA Pinoy TV theatrical film version of “Lupang Hinirang” featuring original scenes and scenes from Philippine movies (courtesy of GMA Pinoy TV and Grace Labaguis).  A video message from Philippine Consul General Cecilia B. Rebong was played to live and Internet attendees.  A representative from the New York City Mayor’s Office, Morgan A. Jones, Queens Director of the Community Affairs Unit.  The opening was hosted by Luis F. Pedron of LFP Productions, Inc. and the gallery opening is part of the ongoing Queens Asian Fest monthly networking events.  Space for the exhibit and networking event is sponsored by Rena Avendula, President and CEO of Payag Restaurant.

The event itself was attended by 70 guests and 12 livestream guests (via the Internet).  Opening entertainment provided by Ms. Kirby Asunto and Archie D. with poetry and a short essay by Richard M. Reyes.  Armi Piamonte, Miss Philippines-USA 2010, was the guest celebrity and appeared in the short skits with Richard M. Reyes.  Ms. Piamonte also read the short essay entitled "Photograph - Unity".

Special thanks to: Luis F. Pedron (Actor, Singer, Queens Asian Fest, LFP Productions), Chef Alex Dino (New York Champion and finalist of the Sears Chef Challenge), Ernie Pena (Renowned editorial and commercial photographer), Rolan Gutierrez (Queens Asian Fest & Ambit Energy), and Michael Bekman.

The photography work features 20 pieces.  The subjects range from: landscape, culinary arts, people, and iconic.  Landscapes include geographical locations: Islands of the Philippines and The United States of America.

To provide good balance and variety each work is a different shape and size.  The works have the appearance of being a photograph and a painting at the same time.  All pieces are ready to hang.  Pieces printed on canvas are all stretched and some are framed.  Pieces printed on Kodak Endura and metallic paper are mounted on sturdy foam core.  All Pieces are designated as high quality museum prints.  For example, Kodak lists the specifications of KODAK Endura Paper as (State-of-the-art image stability: 100 years in typical home display, 200 years in dark storage, 1 to 5 years for commercial display*).  Each piece is a limited edition print signed by the artist. Purchasers will also receive a certificate of authenticity for each work.
