By: Raffaella Bucefalo You stay in one of five apartments set round the beautifully restored 17 century stone farmhouse. Raffaella the owner runs 'Let's Cook in Umbria' courses throughout the year but between the 1-15 November she is offering the chance to join her in the Olive Harvest. Here you can take part in hand picking olives as well as using the extra virgin olive oil in your cooking lessons that also form part of the holiday. You get the chance to visit Trevi - known as the capital of olive oil and see olives being pressed for their oil. Taking place over the first fortnight in November you can chose either the standard package which includes the chance to harvest olives, 3 cooking lessons - you get to eat what you cook, and 2 half day excursions (as well as accommodation and most meals), alternatively you can chose shorter stays without the excursions. The olive harvest is a unique opportunity to participate in an autumnal ritual that is essential to Italy's agrarian and culinary interests. http://www.cookinumbria.it/ # # # Let's cook in Umbria offers cooking lessons, winery tours, gourmet tours, excursions to artisan honey and olive oil producers, truffle hunting and cooking vacation programs that include accommodations and excursions to villages in Italy.
