Dr. Aafia family vows ‘movement’ for her release

Sept. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s family has sworn to establish a “resolution” to get her bring back  to Pakistan from jail in America. On Thursday 23 September, American federal court sentenced 86 years imprison to Dr. Aafia for the attempted murder of American troops in Afghanistan. Her lawyers instantly assured that they would appeal against the court’s unjustified decision. In Karachi, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui told to media reporters that all the nation would crusade to get Dr. Aafia brought back and released.
She said, “I was alone fighting for Dr. Aafia 8 years before when i establised the compaign to get my sister freed but from then to now  the whole nation is with me to get her brought back”.
About 200 workers from Jamaat-e-Islami and several groups of different NGO’s gathered outside the house of Dr. Aafia. They Intonated slogans including “Allah-o-Akbar”(Allah is great) and “Down with America” soon after when they heard that Dr. Aafia has been imprisoned for 86 years.
The mother of three kids, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was found guilty when she was being investigating in July 2008 and trying to shoot down a group of American troops.
Prosecutors told the court that she took up rifle and tried to shoot American servicemen and FBI members who were trying to arrest her. But in self defence , she was shoot up by the one of American soldiers.
Defence lawyer argued that there was no physical proof  such as particles of gunpowder and prints of her finger that could show that even Aafia took hold of the rifle.
Fowzia Siddiqui, a doctor, criticized Government for its incapability to get her sister freed. “This is a slap on our rulers and all the rulers of the Muslim nations”. She said that ex President Musharraf sold out Aafia only once but present government sold her and selling her again and again. “This statement and criticism of Dr. Fowzia shows us that how much enslaved our leaders are.” She cried at the government and said that the government has shown that it is not true representative of our nation…its only a slave government who has enslaved the whole nation. she further said, “Aafia will surely come back to Pakistan but no one knows if our rulers will be there or not.”
Mohammad Asif, a local police official told the media that  the rally in favor of Dr. Aafia tried to march towards American consulate but the police stopped them. In Lahore, different student unions and workers of  Jamaat-e-Islami gathered after the American court’s decision. They blocked roads, burnt tyre and chanted slogans against America. The city police chief told the media that he have declared a high alert in the city to stop the expecting violence so that no private or government property can be damage while protesting.
