SBG Systems will introduce the IG-500E inertial navigation solution during the AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2010 exhibition in Denver, Colo., from August 24 to 27. Visit booth 3232 to learn more about this positioning system that can be used for outdoor, indoor, and underwater applications. SBG Systems will also showcase the IG-500A, a miniature AHRS, and the IG-500N, a GPS-enhanced AHRS especially designed for AUVs.

Inertial solutions are often used in combination with aiding information to solve complex situations such as underwater or indoor positioning. Generally, these solutions are very expensive and only suitable for a specific application. In 2008, SBG Systems introduced the IG-500N, a very small and accurate GPS enhanced Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) that fuses inertial data (accelerations, rotational speed) with GPS information to provide a very accurate 3D orientation (roll, pitch, yaw), velocity and position at 100 Hz.

This year, SBG Systems goes a step further with the IG-500E, a miniature, high-performance and cost-effective inertial navigation solution that accepts any type of external aiding information. The IG-500E embeds a complete tri-axial calibrated MEMS based Inertial Measurement Unit and a real time Extended Kalman Filter that fuses data between inertial sensors and aiding information provided through an additional connector.

Thanks to this revolutionary product, very complex navigation or stabilization solutions can be designed in no time at a very affordable price and without any Kalman Filtering or advanced mathematical knowledge. The IG-500E is ideal for challenging applications such as accurate urban car motion analysis, undersea and indoor positioning or even high-precision true heading where magnetometer-based solutions will fail.

As an example of the IG-500E's capabilities, one can fuse inertial data with an RTK-GPS associated with an odometer or a DVL (Doppler Velocity Log) and USBL (Ultra-short baseline) system for undersea positioning. Even more complex solutions can be designed such as flow vision aiding.

About SBG Systems:
SBG Systems is a leading French supplier of MEMS based inertial motion sensing solutions. We provide Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS), GPS enhanced Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) or even advanced inertial aided solutions based on state of the art MEMS technology. High-quality sensors combined with cutting edge calibration techniques and high end embedded algorithms, offer miniature and cost effective solutions while maintaining best performances at every level. Thanks to these benefits, our products are ideal solutions for industrial and research applications, such as control of unmanned vehicles, antenna tracking or gyro-stabilized cameras, and also for human motion measurement.
