R&B Singer Linda Luztono Wins "Female R&B Artist of the Year" at the 2010 WBLK Unsigned Hype Awards

June 30, 2010 - PRLog -- The 2010 FM 93.7 WBLK Unsigned Hype Music Awards held in Buffalo, New York on June 19th, 2010 was an entertaining event featuring great performances by Canadian and American Independent artists, including platinum R&B recording artist Lyfe Jennings.  In its second year, the 93.7 WBLK award show featured and celebrated the success of the best independent R&B and Hip-Hop artist from both Canada and the USA; hosted by DJ DT, founder of the popular Unsigned Hype 93.7 WBLK radio show.

The highlight of the night came when Canadian R&B sensation Linda Luztono won her first International Award.  WBLK voters chose Luztono as ‘The One’, giving her the title of Canadian Unsigned Hype Female R&B Artist of the Year.  “I wasn’t expecting to win since Kim Davis is such a pioneer here. Thank you so much” said Luztono after accepting her 1st international music award.  Luztono was up against Toronto native R&B singer Kim Davis, who rose to fame when her 2007 single “Hush” with Reggae superstar Sizzla hit the airways.

Luztono’s debuted single, “The One”, sat at #1 on WBLK’s Hype Top Ten Countdown for four weeks, earning her the nomination.  The soulful and addictive song, was written by Luztono and produced by Noah ‘40’ Shebib, who is also the producer of gammy award winner, Drake's hit single "Successful".

The energizing evening ended with the authentic ballads of R&B singer Lyfe Jennings.  He sang hits from his 3 previous albums including, “Must Be Nice”, “S.E.X” and “Hypothetically” which originally featured R&B singer Fantasia.  Jennings who is set to release his 4th album “I Still Believe” on July 17, 2010, left the audience yearning for more after performing his 2nd single “Statistics” from his new album.

The night ended on a high note for Luztono, who was later invited to sing backstage for Mr. Jennings, “Let’s just say that we were all impressed with that beautiful voice of hers”. She had many comparing her image and voice to Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys, two of the most recognized divas in the game.

Luztono is currently busy preparing for her appearance on BET’s Blaze the Stage Summer 2010 Invitational Showcase, which takes place on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 in New York City.  BLAZE THE STAGE was created by the senior show writer of BET’s flagship TV show 106 & Park, Pat Charles, who is also behind several BET TV specials and is the Creator/Casting Director of its’ wildly popular weekly talent search segment Wild-Out Wednesday, which Luztono performed on this past January.

Pat Charles created BLAZE THE STAGE with his friend, Terrence Clayton, who is the Audience Casting Manager for BETs’ 106 & Park and all BET Specials. Blaze the Stage provides a showcase that will feature the hottest up-and-coming performers who appeared on this years’ BET 106 & Park show.  

We wish Luztono well in her journey to “Blaze the Stage” this summer, but she won’t keep her fans waiting much longer; she is back in the studio this month working on her next single "Secret Lover" set to be released this July 2010.  Expect to be captivated by her beautiful, soulful voice.  July couldn't come any sooner!
