SINGAPORE, 18 JUNE 2010 – The need for more face-to-face Business Continuity-Disaster Recovery (BC-DR) commentaries from industry experts in the public and private sectors will be fulfilled for BC-DR practitioners here. Jointly organised by BCM Institute and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), an anticipated audience of over 200 global and local organizations from private and public sectors will converge at the complimentary event, 3P Public Private Partnership – a first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, specifically for public and private organisations. The theme for the MTE is “Bridging Economic Defence and Civil Defence” and it is held at the Holiday Inn Atrium, Singapore on 25 June 2010, 1.30pm – 5.30pm.

The event features the who’s-who in the Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery field including Col. Anwar Abdullah, Director of Operations, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Dr Thomas Phelan,  who is one of the founders of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Col. Anwar, who is also the Executive Director of the National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) will be sharing about the current 3P program setup in SCDF as well as insights into SCDF’s engagement with stakeholders to manage incidences.

“Apart from supporting the government’s vision for organisations here to achieve the Singapore Standard of Business Continuity (SS540:2008), we fulfil the basic need for BC-DR professionals who require knowledge-building platforms such as this event, to further enhance their BC-DR competencies”, conveyed Dr Goh Moh Heng, President of BCM Institute. BCM Institute will also be giving out certificates to candidates including Mr Richie Tan, Senior Consultant with Verizon Communications Inc and Major Jerry Teo, from Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Recognising IBM's leadership in business continuity and resiliency services, IBM is partnering BCM Institute to create awareness and help more enterprises in Singapore inject smart resilience into their organisations. Smart resilience includes having a resilience strategy, ensuring continuous business operations and around-the-clock global delivery, and demonstrating speed and agility when an unforeseen event strikes. Through this event as well as in the longer term, BCM Institute and IBM hope more businesses can operate under virtually any condition, comply with regulations and gain the ability to recover from disasters.
