DEP imaging Releases Griffin, Smallest Lightest Fused Digital Night Vision Module at Eurosatory 2010

DEP imaging releases "Griffin fused digital night vision" at Eurosatory 2010., which combines the unparalleled detection capabilities of thermal imaging with the superior identification capabilities of image intensification into one compact module.

June 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Once thought of as two separate technologies, DEP imaging of Switzerland has successfully combined the unparalleled detection capabilities of thermal imaging with the superior identification capabilities of image intensification into one powerful fusion module – the Griffin.
By applying newly developed, proprietary image fusion techniques in order to extract the strengths of both output images, Griffin produces a contrast-enhanced image that allows the user to simultaneously detect and identify targets safely and securely from an extended range, maximizing the operator’s situational awareness, resulting in improved survivability and lethality. Powerful and versatile, the Griffin is perfectly suited for a wide spectrum of missions from hot spot detection to target tracking.
The Griffin’s fully digital output integrates seamlessly into advanced C4I systems, and is positioned to become an integral component in any future soldier program. It’s high resolution SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels) micro OLED provides 30 frames-per-second fusion in real-time, giving forces a greatly enhanced tactical advantage over their enemies.  In addition, the integrated miniature intensified CMOS sensor provides advanced imaging features such as autogating, which prevents temporary blindness from extreme light bursts that may arise in dynamic light conditions such as flares or improvised explosive devices.
Weighing less than 99 grams, and only 7 cm long, Griffin is the smallest and lightest fully digital fusion module in the world. This light-weight, compact design, allows Griffin to be easily integrated into a variety of handheld, head or helmet mounted devices, without posing the risk of placing unnecessary strain on the operator. Griffin consumes less than 2.5W, maximizing user sustainability in any operating environment. Griffin’s small size, weight and low power consumption provide a tactical advantage to soldiers on the battlefield by improving both the sustainability and maneuverability of the operator for the entire mission.

DEP imaging is premiering the Griffin’s fusion capabilities at Eurosatory from June 14 – 18. More information about the Griffin and the next generation of digital night vision technology is available online at www.dep-imaging.com.
