April 25, 2010 - PRLog -- April 24, 2010 – San Diego, Ca – San Diego Boca FC have a bye weekend in their NPSL schedule, but they won’t be using it to rest. Instead, the team will be at Fiesta Island on Sunday, April 25 starting at 8:00 am as part of the Beach Soccer Jam to exhibit their skills on the sand.

The Beach Soccer Jam will host a number of teams competing in a slight variation of the popular sport. The teams are made up of fewer players, and the pace is much quicker. In an average game teams will attempt 60 shots and score 11 goals.

San Diego Boca FC President and General Manager Yan Skwara views the tournament “as an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that is at the very core of the game.” As part of the event proceedings, Brazilian Samba dancers and Capoeira dancers will perform for fans, players, and families. “This will be a fun beach soccer tourney for the guys as we look forward to some interaction with fans and players.” commented Skwara.

Technically, playing on sand will serve to prove the skills and creativity of the Boca FC players. Because sand is such an unpredictable surface to play on, the ball remains in the air almost the entire time. The soft nature of the sand enables the players to try imaginative and exciting techniques to advance their attack and score goals. Be prepared to see diving headers, exhilarating saves, and breath-taking goals.

Be sure to stop by the San Diego Boca FC booth to pick up more information about the team, and to meet the players, owners, and coaching staff and more. Also, don’t forget to enter into the San Diego Boca FC jersey giveaway that will be going on during the tournament. A few lucky fans will win San Diego Boca FC merchandise and apparel.

San Diego Boca FC (1-1-0) will pick up its NPSL season next Saturday, May 1 against Western Division rival Southern Oregon Fuego (0-2-0) at Helix High Soccer Stadium. San Diego Boca FC are coming off a well-earned victory over the Bay Area Ambassadors on the road, and are looking to continue this winning tradition.  Look for midfielder Abraham Gomez to lead the attack against a Southern Oregon squad that has allowed 14 goals in only two games, and Boca FC goalkeeper Steve Gonzalez to steady the defense.
